FORMER DONEGAL U21 STAR SET TO CAPTAIN MIDDLE EAST SIDE AT WORLD GAA GAMES

first_imgFormer Donegal U21 and Gaoth Dobhair GAA star Danny Curran has been selected to captain the Middle East representative side at the World GAA Games this weekend.Curran is a well-known figure in GAA circles within Donegal having been a central figure in Donegal’s run to the All-Ireland U21 final in 2010 under Jim McGuinness.Curran also played and captained the Gaoth Dobhair Senior side in recent years before emigrating to Qatar two years ago. Curran has made a big impression on the GAA scene over there and was crowned Qatar’s player-of-the-year last season a year in which the club won three tournaments.Curran has since left Qatar and has moved to Abu Dhabi where his club side recently won a league title.Curran is looking forward to the World GAA games and he says he feels honoured to be captaining such a talented group of players.He also added that the standard of play out in the Middle East is very high and the pace of the game is very fast.
