Its jaw-dropping features have captured the attention of cashed-up house hunters far and wide, including Queensland tennis superstar Ash Barty, who considered buying it when it hit the market in September. Owner Sarah Johnson understood the property’s attraction as she and her family instantly fell in love with it too. It embraces indoor/outdoor living with sliding glass doors.“We bought it in 2011, we moved up here from Sydney to have a seachange,” she said.“We just wanted to give (our children) a better life.“We’d been holidaying in Salt Village for a few years before that and would walk past the house. “We loved the fact that it’s across three blocks, which is really nice.”The house offers a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor living spaces with glass sliding doors, which makes entertaining guests a breeze. There are four bedrooms in the main residence while a fifth is in a cylindrical building separated by a passageway, known as the ‘round house’. The ‘round house’ is a standout feature. The main living areas, including the kitchen, are wide and open.Ms Johnson said they called on award-winning architect Paul Uhlmann, who designed the house, to draw up plans for the second building in 2013. The resort-style pool and tennis court outside were also popular hangout spots for the family, whether it be to entertain guests or kick back and relax. “One of our daughters got married down on the beach and had her reception on the tennis court,” Ms Johnson said.“It’s pretty rare to have a tennis court on the beachfront, that’s a unique feature.”While it will be hard for the family to say goodbye to the property, Ms Johnson said the time was right now their children had grown up. “It’s time for someone else to love this house as much as we have,” she said.
