(Photo by Brian Blanco/Getty Images)Florida football had its hands full on the road at South Carolina for much of today’s game. A loss to the plucky Gamecocks would have taken on extra significance, with Will Muschamp on that sideline.Muschamp was, of course, Florida’s head coach from 2011-2014. He topped out at 11-2 in his second year in Gainesville, with a trip to the Sugar Bowl, but a 4-8 2013 season took away basically all the goodwill he earned that year. After a middling 2014, in which the team finished 6-5 under Muschamp with a Birmingham Bowl bid, he was let go.Urban Meyer helped take Florida back to the top of the sport. Muschamp’s tenure wasn’t all bad, but he certainly didn’t keep up what Meyer had built there, and things were trending in a bad direction. His time seemed to be running short in his second head coaching gig at South Carolina as well, before last week’s monumental win over Georgia. For a while, it looked like he might follow it up with one hell of an encore against his former team, taking a 20-17 lead late in the third quarter on a Parker White field goal. Luckily for Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators, quarterback Kyle Trask and UF took over in the fourth quarter. He threw for touchdowns on three straight drives to seal a 38-27 road win. After the game, Florida’s Twitter account reappropriated Muschamp’s South Carolina slogan “all gas, no brakes” to troll the former Gators coach a bit.All Gas, No Brakes. #GatorStandard #GoGators #GatorsTogether pic.twitter.com/MJQoHBzigZ— Gators Football (@GatorsFB) October 20, 2019There’s certainly no love lost between Muschamp and his former school. Things haven’t been great for him in the series from the other side, though.Under Muschamp, the Gamecocks are 1-3 against the Gators.[Gators Football]last_img
