first_imgIndia’s campaign at the Korea Open Super 500 tournament came to an end on Saturday after Parupalli Kashyap’s loss in the men’s singles semi-finals against Kento Momota, who will face Taiwan’s Tien Chen Chou in the final on Sunday.Kashyap lost 13-21, 15-21 in a match that lasted 40 minutes at the Incheon Airport Skydome. With the win, the Japanese extended his overall lead against Kashyap to 3-0.After the match Kashyap took to social media to express his disappointment at the defeat but conceded that the world No.1 and 2-time world champion Momota was clearly the better shuttler in the match.”Happy with my performance the last two weeks at Korea open and China open. Lost to Kento Momota today. Tried hard to play a good level, clearly, he’s a few steps ahead right now.”Last week I had my chances to win against Anthony Ginting in China open. Happy with the progress. Thank you to the coaching and support staff,” Kashyap wrote on his Instagram page.Momota went into the first-game break with a four-point lead after Kashyap gave away some easy points and committed a number of unforced errors. Things did not turn in the Indian’s favour even after the break as Momota widened the lead to 14-8 and then to 17-10. Kashyap lost the first game 13-21.Kashyap, however, put up a great fight in the second game as he came back from 3-9 to pick three straight points and close in the gap to 7-9.At one point in the 2nd game, Kashyap looked better than Momota as he bagged 9 out of 11 points to equal the 2nd game to 12-all. However, Momota then went on to take 6 straight points from there after Kashyap’s usual errors popped back in the game.The world No. 1 then earned 6 match points.
